LGM for Cattle is available for calf and yearling finishing cattle operations. A calf finishing operation assumes a placement weight of 550 pounds and a finished weight of 1150 pounds. This type of operation is assumed to feed calves for eight months and assumes that they will consume 54.5 bushels of corn. A yearling finishing operation assumes a placement weight of 750 pounds and a finished weight of 1250 pounds. Yearling cattle are assumed to be on feed for five months and consume 57.5 bushels of corn during that time.

LGM is also offered for farrow to finish, feeder pig finishing, and segregated early weaned pig finishing swine operations.

All livestock must be sold for commercial or private slaughter primarily intended for human consumption.

Livestock must be fed in one of the 20 eligible states in order to qualify for LGM insurance.
